Woman fined for stealing meat 

A SHOPLIFTER who stole meat from a Bolton supermarket has been fined by magistrates.

Kathleen Bates, aged 47, of Thornbank North, was already subject to a conditional discharge for theft when she stole the meat, worth £35, from Tesco on August 29.

She pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined £70 and ordered to pay £35 compensation plus £255 in costs and charges.

Bolton man fined for being drunk and disorderly 

A BOLTON man admitted being drunk and disorderly at Wigan Bus Station.

David Haslam, of Olaf Street, Tonge Moor, misbehaved at the transport interchange on September 5.

The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

He was fined £65 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20, prosecution costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £150.

Assault man jailed

A MAN has been jailed for 26 weeks after magistrates found him guilty of assault.

Sarfraz Alam, aged 30, of Morrison Street, Bolton, had denied committing the assault on August 10, but was convicted after a trial.

He was also convicted of breaching a restraining order made last year to prevent him contacting his victim.

However, Alam, who is on the sex offender's register, admitted failing to sign on weekly.

The court ordered him to pay a £1,000 criminal courts charge and £80 victim surcharge.

Pensioner fined after serious crash

A PENSIONER has been fined £200 after admitting careless driving which led to a motorcyclist being seriously injured.

Norma Robinson, aged 71, of Thorns Road, Halliwell, was driving a Toyota Rav 4 on Wigan Road, Bolton on May 10 when she was involved in the collision.

The court heard Robinson had an impeccable character, a clean driving licence and was remorseful.

In addition to the fine the pensioner had six penalty points added to her licence and was ordered to pay a £150 criminal courts charge, £85 prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Drink driver banned

A MOTORIST has been banned from the roads for two years after admitting drink driving and having no insurance.

Shaun Hayden, aged 52, of The Pewfist, Westhoughton, was caught driving a Ford Focus on Leigh Road on August 29. He had drunk three times the legal limit of alcohol.

Bolton magistrates ordered him to pay a £150 criminal courts charge, £85 prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Drink driver banned for a year

A MOTORIST who was caught drink driving has been fined £100 and banned from the roads for a year.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court John Morton, aged 25, of Laycock Avenue, Tonge Moor, admitted committing the offence whilst driving a Citroen Berlingo on Tonge Moor Road on August 28.

He was also told he must pay a £150 criminal courts charge, £85 prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Vandal detained at court

A VANDAL who damaged windows at a town centre menswear shop has appeared in court.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Steven Lee, aged 35, of Blackbank Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to damaging two windows, worth £340, at Slaters Menswear.

Magistrates ordered that he be detained in the courthouse until the end of the day and told him he must pay a £150 criminal courts charge.

Breach of peace man in court

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to keep the peace or face having to pay £100.

At Bolton Magistrates Court Jordan Hodgson, aged 22, of Buckley Lane, Farnworth, admitted breaching the peace in Bolton on September 14.

He agreed to be bound over in the sum of £100 for 12 months.
