Meat thief sentenced

A THIEF has been given a community order after stealing a number of meat items.

John Derbyshire, aged 42, of Breightmet Fold Lane, admitted stealing steak worth £30 from the Co-op on August 24 and meat products worth £15 from the Co-op on September 13, and attempting to steal meat products worth £20 from Tesco on September 8.

He was ordered to observe a curfew from 7pm to 7am for 12 weeks by Bolton magistrates, and pay compensation of £45, a victim surcharge of £60, costs of £107 and a criminal courts charge of £150.

Drink driver banned 

A DRINK driver has been banned from driving for 17 months.

James McGreavy, aged 48, of Newby Road, Breightmet, admitted the offence after being caught on August 30.

He was fined £320 by Bolton magistrates and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32, costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £150.

Driver fined £320 for leaving crash scene

A FARNWORTH man has been fined after admitting failing to stop at a crash scene.

Joe Cosgrove, aged 20, of Highfield Road, failed to stop after an accident in Moss Bank Way on July 4.

He was fined £320 and given eight points on his licence by Bolton magistrates, and must pay a victim surcharge of £32 and a criminal courts charge of £150.

Drink driver hit with year-long ban

A DRINK driver has been banned from driving for a year.

Shaun Sefton, 24, of Cestrian Street, Great Lever, admitted the offence after being caught while over the limit and without insurance on September 6.

He was fined £200 by Bolton magistrates and must pay a victim surcharge of £20, costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £150.

Driver fined for phone use

A DEANE man has been fined for using a mobile phone while driving.

Mouiseen Kola, aged 29, of Willows Lane, Deane, was found guilty of the offence and fined £55.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £620, and had three points put on his licence.

Thief given curfew order

A WOMAN must observe a curfew after admitting stealing a handbag.

Geraldine Lomax, aged 55, of Lowry Walk, Halliwell, must adhere to a curfew from 7pm to 7am for 16 weeks, and was ordered to pay compensation of £40, a victim surcharge of £60, costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £160 by Bolton magistrates.

Drink-driver's 3-year ban

A DRINK-driver has been banned from the road for three years.

Christopher Brown, aged 27, of Ashley Avenue, Breightmet, admitted the offence after being caught on September 9.

He was fined £350 by Bolton magistrates and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £35, costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £150.

Man guilty of assault

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for 12 months after ha admitted assaulting a woman.

Nathan Ashton, aged 23, of Nottingham Drive, Bolton, had denied the offence, committed on April 27, but was found guilty after a trial.

He was also ordered to pay a £500 criminal courts charge and £100 in costs and surcharges.
