TWO people have been arrested after a man was attacked in the street.
Police were called to Garstang Avenue in Breightmet to reports of an assault at about 1.10pm on Saturday.
It is understood the victim was confronted and then punched and kicked.
Officers attended and found a 22-year-old man who was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital with bruising and swelling to his face.
One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "I saw a couple with two young children with scooters.
"All I saw was a man and a woman shouting over at somebody I couldn't see.
"There were two young children watching it all.
"The kids were probably bewildered."
Garstang Avenue was taped off by police at its junction with Barnacre Avenue and Bisham Avenue for several hours as investigations got under way.
The police cordon meant the First Bus 511 service between Bolton and Bury, which serves Garstang Avenue, was disrupted.
A 35-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of assault and have been bailed until next month pending further enquiries, a Greater Manchester Police spokesman said.
Police would not say why the man was attacked.
