A WOMAN was arrested after a man suffered a possible stab wound to his arm, police said.

The 28-year-old female was taken away by officers following a disturbance in the middle of the night at a mid-terraced house in Lower Rawson Street, Farnworth, today.

One neighbour said: "I thought there'd been a murder, with the amount of police cars here."

Another said she woke to hear the man shouting and a third thought the house was occupied by a couple with a small dog.

Lower Rawson Street was initially cordoned off at its junctions with Darley Avenue and Fern Street but this was later scaled back to encompass just the house until it was removed completely at just before noon.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "We had been called to an address at 3.05am.

"There had been a dispute going on between a man and a woman.

"An ambulance crew have arrived before we got there and found a man with a potential stab wound to his arm."
