Woman to face stabbing trial

A WOMAN accused of stabbing her partner in the arm has appeared in court.

Police were called to Gemma Higginson’s mid-terraced home in Lower Rawson Street, Farnworth, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The 28-year-old was arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to the man.

She appeared before magistrates to confirm her name, age and address and was remanded in custody until her next appearance before Bolton Crown Court on November 27.

Vietnamese man, 40, denies running cannabis factory in flat

A VIETNAMESE man has denied running a drugs factory in a flat.

Bin Hanh Truong, 40, pleaded not guilty to production of cannabis at a property in Royal Court Drive, Halliwell, when he appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court last Monday. 

His case was sent for trial at Bolton Crown Court where he will appear on November 27.

Truong, who used an interpreter, was remanded in custody.

Driver, 26, fined for damaging cemetery headstones

A MOTORIST who damaged headstones in Farnworth Cemetery in a crash has been fined by Bolton magistrates.

Liam Mullineaux, aged 26, of Calvert Road, Great Lever, was driving a Renault Scenic on Cemetery Road, Farnworth, on October 4 when it crashed, damaging the headstones.

Mullineaux pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. The court fined him £330 and ordered him to pay £255 in costs and charges.

Drink driver fined

MAGISTRATES have fined a motorist £350 after he pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Michael Perkins, aged 43, of Higher Bridge Street, Bolton, was more than two times over the legal alcohol limit when he was caught driving a Ford Focus on Higher Bridge Street on September 26.

As well as the fine, he was banned from holding a licence for three years and ordered to pay £270 in costs and charges.

Car mats shoplifter sentenced

A WOMAN who stole car mats from a DIY store has been sentenced to a 10 week curfew.

Julie Leach, aged 48, of Nottingham Drive, Bolton, admitted stealing the mats, worth £10.64, from B&Q on October 16 and receiving stolen goods, valued at £40, taken from Boots the following day.

The crimes put her in breach of a previously imposed suspended sentence for theft.

Bolton magistrates decided to sentence her to two months in jail, suspended for 12 months with 12 months supervision by the probation service and to take part in 15 days of rehabilitation activity.

She was also fined £20, will be subject to the 7pm to 7am curfew and must pay £340 in costs and charges.

Curfew for number plate fraudster

A TEENAGER who was caught handling stolen car number plates has been sentenced to an eight week curfew.

David Moody, aged 19, of Watson Road, Farnworth, admitted helping remove or dispose of a set of number plates on September 13 and also possessing number plates to be used in connection with fraud.

He was also ordered to pay £55.39 compensation, and £325 in costs and charges.

Drink driver jailed after committing third offence

A DRIVER has been jailed after committing his third drink driving offence in Bolton.

Bolton magistrates heard how Neil Shaw, aged 30, of Chaucer Road, Leigh, was over the legal alcohol limit whilst driving a Ford B-Max on Worsley Road, Bolton, on April 3.

At the time he was also disqualified from driving and had no insurance.

He denied the offences but was convicted after a trial.

As well as being jailed for eight weeks, he was banned from driving for 37 months and ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge.
