Suspended jail term for £500 cosmetics thief

A SHOPLIFTER who had only just been released from jail stole cosmetics worth £507 from a Bolton store.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court, Christianne Hubbe, aged 40, of Gainford Walk, Daubhill, admitted the theft and was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

She must also pay £165 in costs and charges.

Boxing Day drink driver banned

A MOTORIST who was over the alcohol limit when he was stopped in a van on Boxing Day has been banned from holding a driving licence for 17 months.

Luke Fitzharris, aged 42, of Darley Street, Horwich, had drunk more than double the legal limit when he was caught in the Astra van on Chorley Old Road, Bolton.

He was fined £240 and ordered to pay £109 in costs and charges.

New Year drink driver fined

BOLTON magistrates have banned a man from driving for 12 months after he admitted New Year's Day drink driving.

Darren Wood, aged 24, of Vernham Walk, Bolton, was caught driving a Vauxhall Astra on Lower Bridgeman Street, Bolton, whilst over the alcohol limit.

He was also fined £280 and ordered to pay £113 in costs and charges.

Drug driver told he must do unpaid work

A DRIVER who was caught behind the wheel of a car having taken illegal levels of a controlled drug has been sentenced to do 100 hours unpaid work.

Andrew Bentley, aged 31, of Crown Point, Edgworth, was stopped driving a Toyota Yaris on Turton Road, Bolton on September 21 and found to have 334mg per litre of benzoylegonine, a component of cocaine, in his blood when the legal limit for driving is 50mg.

Bentley pleaded guilty to committing the offence and to resisting police officers.

As well as the unpaid work, was told he must undertake 10 days of rehabilitation activity and pay £145 in costs and charges.

He was also banned from holding a driving licence for 12 months.

Pensioner fined for motoring offences

A PENSIONER has been fined £300 after driving without due care and attention and without a licence or insurance.

James Barnes, aged 69, of Hilton Street, Wigan, admitted committing the offences on Wigan Road, Westhoughton, whilst driving a Citroen Xsara on September 26.

He was also ordered to pay £105 in court costs and charges.

Phone thief ordered to do work

A TEENAGE thief who stole a woman's mobile phone has been ordered to do 80 hours unpaid work by Bolton magistrates.

Dylan Yorke, aged 19, of Worston Avenue, Johnson Fold, pleaded guilty to taking the iPhone 6s , worth £650, on November 23.

Yorke was also ordered to pay £6.50 compensation and a £60 victim surcharge.

Shoplifter left with £190 bill

A SHOPLIFTER who twice targeted a sportswear shop has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 30 months by Bolton magistrates.

Susan Giles, aged 45, of Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to stealing clothing, worth a total of £190 from JD Sports on December 8 and 19 as well as possessing a foil lined bag to be used for theft.

Giles was also ordered to pay £90 compensation plus £100 in costs and charges.

Woman drink driver banned

MAGISTRATES have banned a woman from the roads for 14 months after she admitted drink driving.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court, Amanda Dewhurst, aged 55, of Whitland Avenue, Heaton, admitted being over the legal alcohol limit when she drove a Honda Insight on Heaton Road, Lostock on December 21.

She was also fined £500 and ordered to pay £135 in costs and charges.
