Drug man fined

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £100 after he was caught with Class A drugs.

David Anderton, aged 38, of Daisy Street, Bolton, admitted possessing heroin and cocaine on December 16 and failing to turn up to court.

He was sentenced to be detained at the courthouse for a day and must also pay £120 in costs and charges.

Unpaid work ordered after affray

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to do 150 hours unpaid work after admitting affray on January 2.

Dominic Cullen, aged 26, of Chesham Avenue, Bolton, was also told he must undertake a thinking skills programme for 35 days plus a rehabilitation activity for 10 days.

Cullen must also pay costs and charges amounting to £145.

Curfew tag for assault man

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to be electronically tagged after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman.

Anthony Hartshorn, aged 43, of Halliwell Road, Bolton, had initially denied the offence, committed on November 7 last year, but then changed his plea.

Bolton magistrates sentenced him to a six week, 9pm to 7am curfew and told him he must pay £100 compensation plus £335 in costs and charges.

A restraining order was also made banning him from contacting his victim or going to Barrie Way, Bolton.

Assault man sentenced by court

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for two years after he admitted assaulting a woman.

Phillip Walters, aged 42, of Dorchester Avenue, Breightmet, had initially denied committing the offence on June 21 last year, but then changed his plea to guilty.

He was ordered to pay £325 in costs and charges plus £200 compensation to his victim.

Neighbour burglar spared jail

A BURGLAR who broke into a house and stole a boiler has been spared jail.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court James Brown, aged 42, of Oakfield Grove, Farnworth, admitted burgling a neighbouring property between October 15 and 22 last year and taking the boiler, a radiator and hob, together worth £1,750.

He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, was electronically tagged and will be subject to a 7pm to 7am curfew for four months.

In addition, Brown was told to undertake rehabilitation activities for 20 days and must pay £1,000 compensation plus an £80 victim surcharge.

Assault man given conditional discharge

A MAN has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for two years after admitting assaulting a woman and damaging her £600 mobile phone.

Maruisz Bis, aged 33, of Fernbeck Close, Farnworth, was also ordered to pay £400 compensation plus a victim surcharge.

Schoolgirl arsonists fined

TWO schoolgirls who set fire to a supermarket’s advertising flags have each been ordered to pay the store £70 compensations.

The girls, both aged 15, appeared before Bolton Youth Court and admitted arson, destroying the Tesco Express flags on December 7.

They have each been referred to the youth offender panel for 12 months and most pay £50 in costs and charges.

Shop hammer threat man jailed

A DRUNKEN man who terrified people in a shop after brandishing a hammer has been jailed for 12 weeks.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court, Luke Hamblett, aged 27, of Tamar Close, Kearsley, admitted possessing an offensive weapon in Costcutter, Kearsley, on January 19 and using threatening behaviour.

The court heard that Hamblett has a previous record for violence. In addition to the sentence he was ordered to pay £100 compensation and the hammer was forfeited.

Woman failed after failing to name driver

A WOMAN who failed to reveal the identity of a BMW driver to police has been fined by magistrates.

In March last year police in Liverpool, investigating an offence alleged to have been committed by the driver of a BMW X6, asked Rokhaya Faye for information which could help them identify the motorist.

Faye, of Whitland Avenue, Heaton, pleaded guilty to failing to do so and was fined £120, ordered to pay £120 in costs and charges and had six penalty points added to her driving licence.

Teenager in court over vehicle interference

A TEENAGE thief who interfered with a van in Bolton has been ordered to spend 18 hours at an attendance centre.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court David Carty, aged 18, of General Street, Blackpool, admitted committing the offence between August 21and 22 last year.

The court also ordered him to pay £145 in costs and charges.

Pensioner jailed for shoplifting

A PENSIONER who was caught shoplifting in Bolton has been jailed for 12 weeks.

Bolton magistrates heard how Batool Bibi, aged 71, of Kilkerran Close, Chorley, was a prolific shoplifter targeting several towns in the North West.

He was already subject to a suspended prison sentence for theft when he stole goods, worth £82, from Morrisons in Bolton on January 21.

In addition to the jail term, Bibi was told he must pay an £80 victim surcharge.

Owner sentenced over untaxed vehicle

A VEHICLE owner who kept an untaxed car on a public road has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for six months by Bolton magistrates.

James Taylor, aged 31, of Hazel Grove, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to keeping the vehicle on Tavistock Road, Bolton, on May 14 last year.

In addition to the sentence, he was ordered to pay £48.34 in vehicle excise back duty plus a £15 victim surcharge.
