GREATER Manchester Police is looking to recruit trained officers with firearms experience.

The force is also looking for detectives and officers who speak a second language.

It is GMP's first recruitment drive in five years.

Ch Const Ian Hopkins said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for trained constables to come and join us working in a vibrant and exciting area. This is a great time for new officers to help us to transform policing to ensure we provide an excellent service for the people of Greater Manchester. As part of that we need some specific skills and fresh thinking to tackle the changing nature of crime but also to make sure we are reflective of our communities.

“This is just the first part of a major recruitment drive which will allow us to maintain the current number of officers and is a chance for people to join us to make a difference to communities in Greater Manchester.”

In the coming months further recruitment will take place and more details will be given as they become available.

Anyone who has completed their two year probationary period and is interested in applying can contact recruitmentservices@gmp.police.uk for more information about the roles and the selection process.

Full details will be available on the GMP website.
