Hammer man handed curfew by court

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to be electronically tagged after he admitted carrying a claw hammer in public and possessing amphetamine.

The Bolton court heard how Daniel Barnes, aged 27, of Withins Lane, Breightmet, had the weapon and drugs on him at St Gregory's Close, Farnworth on January 14.

He will be subject to a tagged six-week, 8pm to 6am curfew, has forfeited the hammer and was ordered to pay £145 in costs and charges.

Cop assault man in court

ASSAULTING a policeman has resulted in a 12 month conditional discharge for a Farnworth man.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court, Aaron Brabin, aged 22, of Philips Avenue, Farnworth, admitted the Christmas Eve assault.

He was ordered to pay his victim £50 compensation and must also pay £100 in costs and charges.

Teen drink driver banned

A TEENAGER caught drink driving has been fined and banned from holding a licence for 20 months.

Kimberley Yates-Blears, aged 19, of Duncombe Road, Farnworth, had drunk more than twice the alcohol limit whilst driving a Vauxhall Corsa on Lever Edge Lane, Bolton, on January 14.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court she admitted the offence and, in addition to a £120 fine, was ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

Man admits assault

A MAN was told to complete 100 hours of unpaid work after admitting assaulting a woman on New Year's Eve.

Carol Boyer, aged 44, of Shawcroft View, Hall i' th' Wood, was sentenced to a community order and also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £85.

Man caught with drug resin

A MAN caught with cannabis resin on him has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 18 months by Bolton magistrates.

William Millar, aged 27, of Priory Place, Tonge Moor, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on November 20 last year.

In addition to the sentence, magistrates ordered that the drug be forfeited and that Millar should pay £100 in costs and charges.

Man caused car’s damage

A BREIGHTMET man who damaged a Seat Ibiza has been conditionally discharged.

Lee Aldred, aged 37, of Withins Lane, admitted causing £350 worth of damage to the car and was given a conditional discharge for 12 months.

Bolton magistrates also ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £85.

Teenager sentenced after stealing alcohol

A TEENAGER who stole large amounts of alcohol and toiletries from Bolton stores has been fined and ordered to undertake a rehabilitation activity for 20 days.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Claire Reid, aged 19, of Garswood Road, Bolton, admitted taking alcohol worth a total of £318 from Sainsbury’s on January 5 and 8 and stealing toiletries, valued at £16, from Lloyds on December 17.

She was fined £20 and ordered to pay £195 in compensation.

Man jailed

A BOLTON man has been sent to prison after having a "blatant disregard" for court orders.

Lee Smith, aged 33, of Manchester Road, was sent to prison for 24 weeks after breaching a restraining order.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £80 by Bolton magistrates.

27-year-old man jailed

MAGISTRATES sentenced a man who admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to a prison sentence of 26 weeks.

Bobby Stewart, aged 27, of Valpy Avenue, Hall i' th' Wood, was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £80 by Bolton magistrates.

Town centre beggar fined

A BEGGAR who was twice caught asking passers-by for cash in Bolton town centre has been fined by magistrates.

Wayne Moran, aged 44, of no fixed address, admitted begging in Newport Arcade on November 19 and then in Trinity Street on December 7.

He was fined £100 and was detained for a day at Bolton courthouse.

Shoplifter in court over clothing theft

A SHOPLIFTER who stole clothing worth £11 from a Bolton sportswear shop has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months by Bolton magistrates.

Ashley Wadsworth, aged 25, of Marsden House, Bolton, admitted taking the clothing from Decathlon on January 13.

He was also ordered to pay £100 in costs and charges.

Woman driver fined by court

MAGISTRATES have fined a woman £75 after she admitted driving without due care and attention.

Kate Sutcliffe, aged 28, of Settle Street, Little Lever, committed the offence whilst driving a Vauxhall Corsa on Moor Lane on October 26 last year.

Sutcliffe was also ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges and had three points added to her licence.

Assault woman ordered to pay victim compensation

A WOMAN has been ordered to pay her female assault victim £250 compensation

Kirsty Brogden, aged 26, of Windsor Avenue, Little Lever, was convicted of assaulting Catherine Johnson in Cleveleys on October 10 last year and then admitted failing to attend Bolton Magistrates' Court.

She was fined £50 and sentenced to undertake 20 days of rehabilitation activities.

Brogden must also pay £250 prosecution costs.
