Fine for drive ban man caught in car

A 43-YEAR-OLD has been fined for driving while disqualified.
Joszef Lakatos was banned from the road on January 6 when he was caught taking a 2007-reg Renault Megan down Brownlow Way, Halliwell.
He admitted three offences – having no insurance and no MOT and driving while disqualified at Bolton Magistrates' Court.
The defendant, of Green Lane, Great Lever, was fined £128 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85.
Six penalty points were imposed on his licence.

Man fined for being drunk

A WESTHOUGHTON man has been fined for being drunk and disorderly in Bolton town centre.
Simon Fairclough admitted the offence, which took place in Churchgate on March 6, at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.
The 30-year-old, of Drake Hall, was fined £215 and was ordered to pay a £21 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

Community order for would-be burglar

A WOULD-be trespasser who tried to steal has received a community order.
Gary Lathwood, aged 40, attempted to burgle Aqua Kinetics, a business that provides hydrotherapy and rehabilitation for small animals.
It is located in Back Lane, Bolton, round the corner from his Vernon Street flat.
Lathwood admitted the March 6 offence at Bolton Magistrates' Court.
The court gave him a 16-week community order with an electronically-monitored 8pm-to-8am curfew.
He was ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge and court costs of £85 but no compensation order was made.

Drink-driver disqualified

A 68-YEAR-OLD man was disqualified from motoring after admitting drink-driving.
Michael Moore, of Kent Court, was pulled over in Davenport Street, Bolton, on February 6 and gave a blood reading of 270mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The limit is 80mg.
He admitted drink-driving at Bolton Magistrates' Court.
Moore was given a conditional discharge lasting for two years.
He must pay a victim surcharge of £15 and court costs of £85.
The 68-year-old was banned from driving for two years.

Man who repeatedly called police is jailed

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man after he repeatedly made malicious phone calls to police in Bolton.
Terence Howarth, aged 27, of Great Bolton Street, Blackburn, was banned from making false reports to police by an anti-social behaviour order, but rang them again repeatedly on September 17 last year.
Howarth pleaded guilty to committing the offence and possessing amphetamine.
He was sentenced to 32 weeks in prison and must pay an £80 victim surcharge.

Man admits assault 

A CONDITIONAL discharge for six months has been handed to a man after he admitted assault.
Bolton magistrates heard how John Pickford, aged 43, of Gresley Avenue, Horwich, committed the offence against a woman on October 4.
He was ordered to pay £215 in costs and charges

Man is fined over assault

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £75 after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on November 16 last year.
Michael Allison, aged 25, of Victory Road, Little Lever, was also ordered to pay £50 compensation and £400 in prosecution costs.
A restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim or going to an address in Shipton Street, Bolton.

Shoplifter given chance to avoid jail

MAGISTRATES have handed a man a suspended prison sentence after he admitted stealing groceries worth £60 from an Astley Bridge supermarket.
James Taggart, aged 31, of Mersey Bank Road, Hadfield, committed the offence at Asda on March 16.
The court heard he is a prolific shoplifter and magistrates told him this was his last chance to avoid going to prison.
He was sentenced to eight weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months and must take part in rehabilitation activity for 15 days.
He was also ordered to pay £30 compensation plus £165 in costs and charges.

Community order for thief

A THIEF has been given a community order.
Jonathan Adamson admitted two counts of theft at Bolton Magistrates' Court. 
He stole an electric toothbrush worth £25 from Noble and Peacock Pharmacy in Chorley Old Road, Bolton, on January 21.
Adamson also stole a HTC mobile phone valued at £170 belonging to Jessica Ingham on December 14 last year,
The 40-year-old, of Gargrave Avenue, Johnson Fold, was sentenced by the courts to a community order lasting three months.
He was fined £55 and told to pay £25 compensation to the pharmacy and £170 compensation to the phone owner.

Vandal, 24, left with £150 bill

A 24-YEAR-OLD has been given a conditional discharge.
Jonathan Conchie, aged 24, damaged a glass panel in a door worth £50 in Bolton.
He admitted criminal damage at Bolton Magistrates' Court.
Conchie, of Red Lane, Breightmet, was given a six-month conditional discharge and was told to pay compensation of £50, a victim surcharge of £15 and court costs of £85.

Shoplifter stole clothes worth £60

A SHOPLIFTER has been sentenced by the magistrates.
Luai Elkurdi, aged 29, stole £60 worth of clothing from Sports Direct in Victoria Plaza in Bolton town centre on March 8.
He committed the offence while subject of a 12-month conditional discharge imposed for an offence of theft in September last year by Bolton Magistrates' Court.
Elkurdi admitted one count of theft and one of breaching a conditional discharge at the same court.
He was given a 12-month community order with rehabilitation activity requirement and told to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work.
The 29-year-old, of Pinewood Close, Bolton, must pay £60 compensation, a £60 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
No action was taken for the breach of the conditional discharge.

Drink-driver’s 17-month ban

A DRINK-driver has been disqualified from motoring.
Louis Okonkwo, aged 39, was caught driving a 2012-reg Fiat Panda in Weston Street, Great Lever, on March 5.
The 39-year-old was found with 86mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The limit is 35mg.
He admitted the offence at Bolton Magistrates' Court.
Okonkwo, of Sapling Road, Morris Green, was fined £110 and disqualified from driving for 17 months.
He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85.

Cannabis man gets £100 bill

A 28-YEAR-OLD has been sentenced for possessing cannabis.
Craig Robinson admitted possession of the class B drug when he appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court.
Robinson, of Deepdale Road, Breightmet, received a 12-month conditional discharge.
He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and court costs of £85. The cannabis will be destroyed.

Fine for theft of deodorant

A SHOPLIFTER stole 18 cans of deodorant from a bargain store.
Sam Taylor admitting theft of the £1-a-go personal hygiene products from an unspecified one of the three Bolton borough branches of Poundworld on March 7.
The 40-year-old, of Wigan Road, Bolton, appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court.
He was fined £55 and was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

Drug driving teen gets one year ban

A TEENAGER has been banned from driving and fined for drug-riding a moped.
Shaun Taylor was caught on the using the 2001-reg Sym Jet scooter in Halliwell Road, Halliwell, on December 1 last year.
The 19-year-old had no insurance or driving licence and failed to stop for a police officer.
He gave a test sample that showed he had above the legal limit of tetrahydrocannabinol, the active chemical in cannabis, in his blood.
Taylor admitted one count each of having no insurance, having no licence, drug-driving and failing to stop at Bolton Magistrates' Court.
He was fined £200 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85.
Taylor, of Chequer Street, Wigan, was disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Unpaid work order for assault man

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 100 hours unpaid work after he admitted assaulting a woman in Bolton on February 23.
Steven Kay, aged 42, of Bell Lane, Bury, was also told he must participate in rehabilitation activities for 20 days, pay his victim £100 compensation and pay £145 in in costs and charges.
The court made a restraining order banning Kay from contacting the woman.

Harassment man spared jail

HARASSING a woman for four years has resulted in a man being handed a suspended prison sentence by Bolton magistrates.
Yogesh Mistry, aged 41, of Woodgate Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence between August 2011 and October 2015.
He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months and must participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities.
Mistry was also ordered to pay £250 plus £320 in costs and charges.

Threats man handed suspended sentence

MAGISTRATES have handed a man a suspended prison sentence after he was found guilty of using threatening behaviour.
Mark McEvilly, aged 20, of Rose Avenue, Farnworth, had denied committing the offence on August 10 last year, whilst on bail for other crimes, but was found guilty after a trial.
He was sentenced to 18 weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months and must pay his female victim £100 compensation.
The court also ordered him to pay £530 in costs and charges.

Rail trespass man spared jail

A MAN who delayed rail services at Bolton by trespassing on the line has been spared jail.
At Bolton Magistrates' Court Constantine Juliene, aged 31, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to committing the offence near Bolton railway station.
Passengers travelling on trains through Bolton were delayed for up to 20 minutes.
Juliene was sentenced to four weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and was ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge.

Assault case woman fined

A WOMAN who assaulted a man on February 19 has been fined £50 by Bolton magistrates.
Lorraine Greenhalgh, aged 48, of Egerton Grove, Walkden, admitted committing the offence in Bolton and must participate in rehabilitation activity for 10 days, as well as paying her victim £150 compensation.
Greenhalgh was also told she must pay £145 in costs and charges and a restraining order was made banning her from contacting the man or going to an address in Southwell Close, Bolton.
