Flytipper who dumped cardboard boxes and mattress in Raikes Lane fined

A FLYTIPPER has been fined more than £160 in a prosecution brought by Bolton Council.

Hamid Ghorbani dumped a bag of cardboard waste and a mattress in Raikes Lane, Bolton, sometime between March 16 and May 5.

The 34-year-old, of Patterson Street, Deane, admitted flytipping at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Ghorbani was fined £165 and order to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £300.

Great Lever man fined for failing to check people who took away rubbish were authorised

A GREAT Lever man has been fined for failing to check the people he employed to get rid of rubbish were properly licensed.

David McCullough, of Hinkler Avenue, was charged with failing between January 28 and February 1 to take all reasonable measures to check his waste was being transported away by an authorised person.

He admitted the count on Friday (June 13) in a prosecution brought by Bolton Council at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

The 33-year-old defendant was fined £60, a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £300.

Vandal guilty of damaging sign

A 42-YEAR-OLD man damaged a £60 business sign belonging to CFU Ltd.

Peter Charnock, of Woodvale Grove, Great Lever, received a six-month conditional discharge and must pay £60 compensation and a £20 victim surcharge after admitting the May 4 criminal damage at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Westhoughton man ordered to pay compensation over damaged council door and window

A 28-YEAR-OLD who broke fixtures in a council building has been ordered to pay compensation.

James McCarthy, of Hunts Bank, Westhoughton, damaged on June 7 a window and internal door belonging to Bolton Council's housing department. 

He admitted criminal damage at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Monday (June 13) and was given a conditional discharge for 12 months.

McCarthy must pay compensation to the authority of £550, a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85.

Bank card thief handed community sentence

A TEENAGER who stole a bank card has been given a community sentence.

Alex Gibson, of Gray Street North, Halliwell, took the card on April 1 and admitted theft at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

At his sentencing hearing he was given an 18-month community order, including up to 60 days of rehabilitation activity.

Magistrates revoked a youth rehabilitation order the 18-year-old was given as a juvenile defendant at Manchester Magistrates' Court in January.

He must pay a victim surcharge of £60 and court costs of £85.

Man damaged trampoline and window

A BOLTON man damaged a woman's possessions and used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour against her.

Richard Hornby, of Faringdon Walk, Bolton, admitted two offences at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Monday. (June 13)

He caused criminal damage to a garden trampoline and a double-glazed window on May 28 belonging to a woman and caused a fear or provocation of violence against her.

The 24-year-old defendant was given a six-month community order.

He must pay compensation of £320, a victim surcharge of £85 and court costs of £85.

Driver had no licence

A DRIVER has had penalty points added to his licence after committing motoring offences.

At Manchester Magistrates' Court Nathan Crickson, aged 35, of Brandwood Street, Rumworth, was accused of driving a Fiat Multipla car in Settle Street, Great Lever, on February 29 without a licence or insurance.

The charges were proved in court on June 8 under the single justice procedure.

Crickson was given six penalty points and ordered to pay £812 in fines and court costs.

Expensive day for motorist

A GREAT Lever man must pay £1,010 in fines and court costs after he was caught driving without insurance, a licence or on an MOT.

Patrick Horvath, aged 19, of Crescent Road, Great Lever, committed the offences while driving a Toyota Starlet in Derby Road, Bolton, on February 29.

He has also been given six penalty points.

The charges was proved at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on June 8 under the single justice procedure.

Kearsley man gets three month curfew for assault in Bolton

AN 18-year-old who beat up another man has been sentenced.

Jake Rogers, of Crescent Road, Kearsley, admitted assaulting his victim on May 2 in Bolton when he appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Friday. (June 10)

Rogers was given a three-month community order with 7pm-to-7am electronically-monitored curfew.

He must pay £100 compensation, a victim surcharge of £85 and court costs of £85.
