Meat thief stole £68 worth of bacon rashers from frozen food shop

A MEAT thief stole 40 packs of bacon from a frozen food outlet.

Phillip Leach, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, shoplifted £68 worth of pork rashers from a Bolton branch of Heron Foods on March 28.

He changed his plea to admit theft at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Leach was given a six-week community order with an electronically-monitored 8pm-to-6am curfew.

He must pay £34 compensation and £85 court costs.

Thief targeted a shop twice in same day

A THIEF targeted the same shop twice in a day — and ended up in court.

George Roberts, aged 35, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, went to the Co-op shop in Wigan Road, Bolton, on March 26 and stole household items worth £104.

He returned on the same day and stole £60 of cosmetics.

Roberts denied two charges of theft to Salford and Manchester magistrates and the charges were proved in his absence.

He was given a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £164 compensation to the shop and £100 court costs.

Shoplifter gets jail warning

A SHOPLIFTER has been warned he could go to prison if he reoffends in the next year.

Jason William Humphreys, aged 45, of Cross Street, Farnworth, admitted to Salford and Manchester magistrates that he stole meat worth £26 from the Co-op shop in Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, on June 24.

Magistrates considered that Humphreys has a record of committing similar offences and gave him a three-month prison sentence suspended for a year.

He must undergo 12 months of offender rehabilitation and supervision and pay £115 court costs.

Woman failed to name driver

A HORWICH woman who failed to reveal the identity of a driver to police has been given six penalty points.

Beth Singleton, aged 26, of Victoria Road, was asked by officers to name who was at the wheel of an Audi car at the time when an alleged motoring offence took place.

Singleton was charged with failing to give information relating to the driver's identity to police on May 4 and the charge was proved at Salford and Manchester Magistrates Court under the single justice procedure.

She must also pay £459 in fines and court costs.

Price of justice amounts to £811

A BREIGHTMET woman is £811 out of pocket because she would not tell police who was driving a car when an alleged offence took place.

Lynsey Wilding, aged 35, of Padbury Way, Breightmet, was accused of failing to identity the driver of a Ford Focus on Christmas Eve last year.

The charge was proved at Salford and Manchester Magistrates Court under the single justice procedure and Wilding was given six penalty points and ordered to pay a £660 fine and £151 court costs.

Offences cost driver £1,136

A MOTORIST who drove without a licence or insurance is £1,136 out of pocket.

Jan Horvath, aged 27, of Alice Street, Bolton, committed the offences while driving a Mercedes A Class car in Cricketers Way, Westhoughton on March 15.

He denied two motoring offences at Salford and Manchester Magistrates Court but was found guilty and given six penalty points.

Horvath was also ordered to pay a £770 fine and £366 court costs.

Traffic light fine

A MOTORIST who passed through the junction of Trinity Street and Manchester Road in Bolton 23 seconds after the lights turned red on November 22 last year has been fined £140 and given three penalty points.

Christopher Yates, aged 39, of Hind Hill Street, Heywood, admitted a motoring offence to Salford and Manchester magistrates.

Coffee haul stolen

A DRUG addict who stole £80 worth of coffee from a budget supermarket has been sentenced.

David Smith, of Felton Walk, Astley Bridge, shoplifted the goods from Aldi in Trinity Street, Bolton, March 14.

He admitted theft at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

The 52-year-old was given a six-month community order with a six-week electronically-monitored curfew from 8pm and 7am and a rehabilitation requirement.

Smith, who committed the theft in breach of a suspended prison sentence imposed for two earlier offences of shoplifting, must pay £40 compensation to Aldi.
