POLICE investigating a shocking incident in which a mother with her two children had her leggings and underwear pulled down have arrested a man.

The attack, which is being treated as a sexual assault, happened at 7pm on Tuesday as the victim pushed a pram through the underpass at Kearsley roundabout.

She was approached by a man who yanked down her leggings and underwear.

She screamed and he made an obscene gesture before running off.

Police have confirmed at 8pm yesterday a man was arrested - after a call from the public - by Bolton police in connection with the case and he remains in police custody for interview.

The victim said she was with her toddler and weeks old baby girl when it happened.

She said after the incident: "I was attacked with my children and I hate to think what may of happened if I was alone.

"I'm shaken but OK. I just want him found so it doesn't happen again."
