THIEVES stole three catalytic converters in a single night in which a specific make of van was targeted.
They took the same engine component from a trio of Mercedes commercial vehicles parked in a cluster of Great Lever streets overnight between Monday and Tuesday.
The culprits struck in Walker Avenue between midnight and 7am, Westbourne Avenue between 7pm and 8am and Weston Street between 3pm and 1pm the following day.
A police source said: "We would assume they would be linked but we have no information about who has done it.
"We have negative lines of enquiry at this time so they have been crimed but they are not being investigated."
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
