Steak thief jailed

SHOPLIFTER Gavin Sever was jailed by Bolton Magistrates’ Court for two months for stealing washing powder, a bottle of vodka and 15 packets of steak over three consecutive days from Co-op in Highfield Road, Farnworth.
The 26-year-old, of Thrush Avenue, Farnworth, admitted three counts of theft.

Man’s drugs fine

ANTHONY Fitton, aged 41, of Radcliffe Road, The Haulgh, was fined £100 by Bolton Magistrates' Court after admitting possessing a wrap of cocaine and a wrap of heroin on August 24.

Ban and fine for drink-driver

FINES and a road ban lasting a year and a half were handed to a motorist by a court.
Nasser Hussain, of Dunbar Drive, Great Lever, admitted charges of drink-driving, driving without insurance and contravening a red light. 
He gave a breath test reading of 41mcg in 100ml of breath against the legal maximum of 35mcg.
The 35-year-old was behind the wheel of a 2007-reg Saab Linear Sport in St George's Road, Bolton, at the time of the offences on August 28.
Hussain was ordered to pay a total of £340 in fines, a victim surcharge of £30 and £85 court costs by Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Motorist banned from road for 3 years after failing to provide breath sample

A MOTORIST who failed to provide a sample for a drink-drive breath test has been disqualified for three years.
Pradip Patel, 35, of Gibraltar Street, Bolton, admitted the offence when he appeared at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.
Besides the ban, he was fined £300 and was ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.

Driver failed to stop after crash

A DRIVER who crashed into a wall later obstructed a police officer.
Paul Scott, of Athlone Avenue on the Oldhams Estate, drove his 2004-reg Skoda Fabia into a brick wall in Blackburn Road on April 17.
Scott admitted at Bolton Magistrates’ Court to failing to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident, failing to stop as required by a police officer and obstructing a police officer.
Scott was fined a total of £650 and ordered to pay compensation of £261.
The defendant was handed a six month driving ban and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.

Man jailed for order breach

A HEATON man has been jailed for breaching a restraining order – a day after he came out of prison for the same offence.
Ian Atkinson, 48, of Kirkby Road, Heaton, had been banned from contacting the woman, from Radcliffe, but bombarded her with text messages and voicemail messages between July 7 and July 17.
He also sent her flowers, went to her property and followed her.
After admitting harassment and breaching a restraining order, Atkinson was jailed for 12 weeks by Bury magistrates on July 19.
He was released from custody on August 26 – and then contacted the woman again.
Atkinson admitted breaching the order to Bury magistrates and was jailed for a further 12 weeks.
Magistrates said the offence was serious because Atkinson had previously breached restraining orders eight times.
They said he had an appalling record of breaching court orders and noted that the incidents had had a sizeable impact on the victim.The restraining order remains in place until July 2018.

Facebook case man in court

MORRIS Green man Carl Dolphin was conditionally discharged for 12 months for breaching a restraining order by sending Facebook messages to a third party.
The 47-year-old, of St Helens Road, admitted the charge at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.

Driver was over the limit

A MOTORIST was fined and disqualified for drink-driving after he was caught up in a car crash.
Jonathan Bethel, of Colchester Avenue, Bolton, was travelling in his Mazda 3 in Empire Road, Bolton, on August 21, when it was struck by a vehicle coming out of a side road.
Police turning up to the incident conducted roadside breath tests of both motorists involved and the 59-year-old gave a reading of 48mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
Bethel admitted drink-driving and was fined £200 by Bolton Magistrates’ Court and banned from the road for a year.

Man jailed over online abuse

A MAN who harassed a woman by abusing her on an internet forum has been jailed for 12 weeks.
Stephen Hatton, 27, of Laurel Court, School Hill, Bolton, denied one count of harassment at Salford Magistrates Court and was found guilty after a trial.
Magistrates said the offence was serious because Hatton participated in threatening behaviour towards the woman on a public forum and because he had shown persistent behaviour over a period of time.
Hatton must stay away from the woman for at least two years and must pay £115 court costs.

Teenager who attempted to burgle pub sentenced

A TEENAGER who attempted to burgle The Pineapple pub has been given a fresh youth rehabilitation order.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted the offence – committed on April 5 – at Bolton Youth Court.
Magistrates revoked an order made in June and gave the youngster a new 12-month youth rehabilitation order with a supervision requirement and a 7pm-to-7am electronically-monitored curfew lasting six months.
The teenager, of Astley Bridge, was ordered to pay £185 compensation to the pub, in Blackburn Road, Astley Bridge.

Curfew order for would-be-thief

A MAN who was found by police with tools to help him carry out a theft has been sentenced.
Jason Oudomvilay was found in possession of a metal mason’s chisel and a pair of black Nike gloves in Bolton on August 22. He changed his plea to admit going equipped for stealing at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.
The 37-year-old, of Manchester Road, Bolton, received a 12-week community order with an electronically-monitored 7pm-to-7am curfew. He must also pay a victim surcharge of £85 and £85 court costs. and court costs of an identical sum.
The chisel and gloves were forfeited.

Door damaged by neighbour

MAGISTRATES conditionally discharged a Bolton man over a charge of criminal damage.
Sufian Vaka, of Thornbank, Deane, aged 29, damaged a door of a neighbour who lives in nearby Blackshaw House, causing £100 of damage, on July 17.
He admitted the offence and was given a 12-month conditional discharge by Bolton Magistrates' Court and was ordered to pay £100 compensation to the victim, a £20 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
