Man who beat up two others gets community order

MAGISTRATES sentenced a young man who beat up two other men to a 12-month community order.

Kristopher Batty, aged 22, of Worsel Street, Daubhill, admitted assaulting Omar Roobie and Liam Lydiate on on May 21.

Batty’s order includes 200 hours of unpaid work and he must pay £150 compensation to Mr Roobie, £100 compensation to Mr Lydiate, an £85 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

Driver fined

LEWIS David Holbrook, aged 30, of Bury and Bolton Road, Radcliffe, has been given five penalty points after being convicted of driving without due care and attention at Bury Magistrates Court.

Holbrook committed the offence while driving a BMW 1 Series car in Pilkington Way, Radcliffe, on February 20 this year.

Holbrook must also has also been ordered to pay a £440 fine and £149 court costs.

Driver banned over offences

A MOTORIST who flouted the law has been sentenced.

Ali Khan, of Argo Street, Great Lever, had neither insurance nor a licence when he was behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf in Higher Swan Lane on July 28.

The 24-year-old admitted both offences and was sentenced at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.

Khan was disqualified from driving for a year, fined £280 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30. He was also ordered to pay court costs of £85.

Drink-driver fined £300 and given 18-month motoring ban

A DRINK-driver has been banned from the road for 18 months and fined.

Claire Leather, aged 29, was caught on August 30 at the wheel of a Toyota Aygo in Waters Meeting Road, Bolton.

She gave a breath test reading of 65mcg in 100ml of breath against the legal limit of 35mcg.

Leather, of Astley Brook Close, Bolton, admitted drink-driving at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

She was fined £300, given the driving ban and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85.

Benefit cheat sentenced for failing to tell council he was earning more

A BENEFIT claimant who kept from Bolton Council a rise in his job earnings has been sentenced.

Garry Ward, of Bury Road, Breightmet, admitted at Bolton Magistrates’ Court to making a dishonest representation for obtaining benefit, by failing to inform the authority his income had increased between November, 2013, and June, 2015.

The 40-year-old was sentenced to a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work.

Ward must pay a victim surcharge of £60 and court costs of £85.

Magistrates agreed with the council’s specialist fraud division’s application for a reduction of £145 to be made to the defendant’s benefits.

Vehicle plate fine

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £73 after he pleaded guilty to damaging a vehicle registration plate.

Joseph McKerrow, aged 21, of Manchester Road, Bolton, committed the offence on July 8.

The court also ordered McKerrow to pay £150 compensation and £115 in costs and charges.

Car mat thief given fine

A THIEF who stole windscreen wipers and car mats has been fined by Bolton magistrates.

Jason Baxendale, aged 44, of Wellington Street, Farnworth, admitted stealing the items on June 22.

He was fined £20, must have treatment for drug addiction and participate in rehabilitation activities for 20 days as well as pay £295 compensation and £170 in costs and charges.

Vodka thief sent to jail

SHOPLIFTER James Blackburn, aged 30, of Bolton Road, Bolton, was jailed for 24 weeks.

He was sentenced at Bolton Magistrates’ Court after he admitted theft of four bottles of vodka from Sainsbury’s on September 8.

The court activated two suspended prison sentences imposed in August for theft of a mobile phone and fraud by false representation.

Man fined for drug offences

A MAN who was caught in possession of diazepam tablets and cannabis has been fined by Bolton magistrates.

Nicholas Doherty, aged 34, of Eldon Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences on August 14 and failing to surrender to court.

He was fined £20 and ordered to pay £170 in costs and charges.

Man guilty of race threats

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for 18 months after finding him guilty of using racially aggravated threats or behaviour.

Vincent Doherty, aged 51, of no fixed address, had denied committing the June offence when he appeared at Bolton Magistrates’ Court .

In addition to the sentence, Doherty was ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge.

Thief jailed after vandalising two cars

A PRISON term of 12 weeks was given to an offender who damaged two cars.

Neil Elliott, 30, of no fixed address, caused £200 worth of damage to a BMW 3 Series and a Kia Cee’d in Bolton on September 6.

He was sent to prison and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 by Bolton Magistrates Court after admitting two counts of criminal damage.

He committed the offences in breach of an earlier community order for a theft and a conditional discharge imposed for begging.

A charge of breaching an ASBO by being drunk and disorderly in a public place was withdrawn.
