Vodka thief locked up

A TEENAGE thief who stole vodka and hair straighteners has been sentenced to 28 days in a young offender institution.

At Bolton magistrates’ court David Carty, aged 19, of Duke Street, Bolton, admitted stealing vodka, worth £31, from Marks & Spencer in Bolton on July 29 and hair straighteners from Superdrug in Colwyn Bay on April 27. He also admitted breaching a previously imposed community order and failing to surrender to court.

Magistrates ordered Carty to pay £85 compensation to Superdrug.

Woman admits stealing perfume 

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a woman to a conditional discharge for 12 months after she admitted shoplifting.

Naomi Conway, aged 22, of Park Road, Bolton, stole perfume, worth £129, from Debenhams on September 4.

Bolton magistrates also ordered her to pay £105 in costs and charges.

Man assaulted two police officers

A MAN who assaulted two police officers and damaged a door in Bolton has been given 100 hours unpaid work.

At Bolton Magistrates Court Gilbert Asanta-Boadu, aged 22, of Abbeywood Avenue, Gorton, pleaded guilty to committing the assaults on May 20 and damaging the door a day earlier.

He was ordered to pay £132 in compensation plus £170 towards costs.

Fine and rehab for van thief

A VAN thief who stole a vehicle from a hire company has been fined £40 by Bolton magistrates.

Lee Livesey, aged 49, of Laurel Court, Bolton, pleaded guilty to stealing a VW Crafter van, worth £5,000, from Elliot Car Hire on August 30.

At the time of the theft, Livesey was subject to conditional discharges for previous offences.

In addition to the fine, magistrates ordered him to undertake 15 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £170 in costs and charges.

Burglar to get drug treatment

A WOMAN who burgled a card shop and stole decorative candles worth £297 has been ordered to have treatment for drug addiction.

Denise Kay, 34, of Greenbank, Chorley New Road, Horwich, had denied burgling Clinton Cards in Market Street, Bolton, on April 3, but was found guilty following a trial at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.

She admitted failing to surrender to court.

Magistrates sentenced her to a community order with treatment for drug dependency for three months, fined her £40 and told her she must pay an £80 victim surcharge.

Curfew and tag for assault

A FOUR-week curfew has been imposed on a man who admitted assaulting a woman and damaging her window on August 17.

Bolton magistrates decided Jamie Mallen, aged 20, of Duke Street, Bolton, should be electronically tagged during the 7pm to 7am curfew.

He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation plus £170 in costs and charges.

Man jailed for 18 weeks

A MAN has been jailed for 18 weeks by magistrates after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a policewoman and using threatening behaviour on September 14. Sean Marsh, aged 28, of Chorley New Road, Bolton, also admitted being drunk and disorderly in Duke Street, Bolton, on September 4, and damaging a police vehicle. He must also pay £200 compensation.

Man attacked special officer

A THIEF who assaulted a special constable in Bolton has been jailed for 16 weeks by magistrates.

Ryan Shanley, aged 30, of Chime Bank, Manchester, pleaded guilty to assaulting the officer and a woman on June 4, using threatening behaviour towards two men, damaging a wooden gate worth £300 and causing racially aggravated harassment to another officer. Shanley also admitted burgling a house in Shaftesbury Avenue, Lostock, stealing a photograph frame and bottle of Coke, on June 4.

He was ordered to pay a total of £300 in compensation.
