A pedestrian is in a critical condition after being hit by a car.
An 82-year-old man was crossing Green Lane, close to the junction with Carr Road, Horwich, when a white Ford Focus driven by a woman collided with him.
It happened just after 2pm yesterday.
The pedestrian was taken by air ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital with a life-threatening head injury and remains in a critical condition.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or the Ford Focus shortly beforehand to contact officers.
PC Peter Cunningham of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Sadly, a man is in hospital in a critical condition and my thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
“I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision, or has dash-cam footage, to get in touch with police, so we can piece together exactly what happened.”
Anyone with information should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
