A DRIVER was killed in a 'tragic' crash on the A666 in the early hours of this morning.
The man, in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene after his green BMW left the road and collided with the barriers, a lamppost and several trees at 12.55am.
The crash happened near the Kearsley junction, heading in the direction of Manchester.
Sergeant Lee Westhead from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is urging anyone with dash-cam footage to contact him.
He said: “This is a tragic incident and specially trained officers will be offering this man’s family support through this devastating time.
“We need to know exactly what happened and I would urge anyone who was driving on that road around the time of the collision to please contact us.
“Even if you didn’t see the collision happen, you might still have information which could really help us.
“Dash-cam footage would also be extremely helpful to this investigation and I would urge anyone with footage of the collision or of the car before it happened, to please contact us.”
Information can be passed on by calling SCIU on 0161 856 4741.
