A SON who set fire to his mother’s wheelie bin, wrote abusive words on her car and damaged her home has been sentenced to a 12 month community order.
Bolton Crown Court heard how 24-year-old Wasim Patel had been taking cocaine and drinking vodka when he went to Hasina Hajee’s home in Cavenham Grove, Bolton on July 3.
Ms Hajee returned to find her bin on fire and put out the flames. Patel also damaged the front door and scrawled offensive words on the boot and door of her car.
The following day Ms Hajee found her son on the roof, causing damage. He was arrested and pleaded guilty to arson and criminal damage. The Honorary Recorder of Bolton Judge Timothy Clayson sentenced Patel, of Cavenham Grove, to have mental health treatment for six months and participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities.
He told Patel: “These offences are as a direct result of your abuse of alcohol and drugs.”
