A MAN has been arrested after an alleged hit and run that left an elderly man in a serious condition.
Police received a report of a fail-to-stop collision in Blackburn Road, Halliwell, at 6.10am this morning, Friday, October 27.
An 82-year-old man was discovered with multiple injuries and was taken to Salford Royal Hospital by ambulance, where he remains in a serious condition.
A 47-year-old man was later arrested after presenting himself at Bolton Police Station, where he remains for questioning.
Detective inspector Rick Thompson said: "I’d like to thank everyone for their patience as we respond to the collision and have tried to ensure as little disruption as possible to the area.
"With a man in custody, our attention now turns to questioning him but we still need your help to get the full picture of what happened so call us if you know anything.
"Our thoughts remain with the injured man and his family as he receives treatment."
