CARS were on fire in a Bolton road this morning.
Firefighters attended the incident in Anchor Lane, Farnworth, at around 1am.
It is believed the vehicles may have been involved in a robbery.
Resident Karen Holt said she heard vehicle noise around the time of the incident.
She said: "We just heard a loud bang, like a popping noise but, about five minutes previous to that, there were two cars that went past as though they were speeding or following each other.
"I don't know if that had anything to do with it , but it just seemed funny, and then the fire engines arrived."
Mrs Holt added that the cars had been recoverd this morning (Thursday).
