THREE men have been arrested after the shooting of a man amid two mass brawls.
Police were called to Castle Street, in The Haulgh, at around 8.15pm on May 20 to reports of a disturbance involving around 30 men.
They received a further call saying a man had been shot, and at 9.10pm, Royal Bolton Hospital confirmed a man was receiving treatment for a gunshot wound.
The man remains at the hospital but his injuries are not life-threatening.
Two hours later, at 11.30pm, officers received another report of fighting and a gun being fired into the air in Russell Street.
Police believe the two incidents may be linked, and have launched an investigation.
Earlier today police executed warrants at four addresses in Bolton, arresting three men aged 23, 34 and 45 on suspicion of firearms offences and violent disorder.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Bridge said: “Following a swift response from our officers and help from the local community we have arrested three men on suspicion of firearms offences and violent disorder.
"The man is still in hospital receiving treatment for a gunshot wound.
“Thankfully there were no other people injured.
“There will continue to be increased patrols in the area.
