A WOMAN has been sentenced after an attack on a mother and her son.

Juanita Taylor, with her brother Jacob Thompson and two other unknown men assaulted Susan and Evan Giles at Mrs Giles’ flat in Firwood Lane on April 19, 2016.

Earlier that night, Thompson had repeatedly punched and bitten the ear of Mr Giles after he stepped in to protect his mother, who had intervened in an argument between Thompson and his ex-girlfriend at a party in Pixmore Avenue — Bolton Crown Court heard earlier this week.

After the incident Mrs Giles and her son fled the scene returning to her flat.

Minutes later Taylor, Thompson, armed with a metal walking stick; and the other men burst into the flat.

Taylor armed herself with a piece of wood from the shattered door and hit and punched Mrs Giles causing bruising and swelling. She was arrested the following day.

Taylor, aged 41 of Greenway Bolton, was handed a 20 month suspended sentence for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, yesterday. She will also have to undertake 30 days rehabilitation activity.

Thompson was sentenced to 28 months in prison on Tuesday, after pleading guilty to causing actual bodily harm, causing grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon.

A restraining order banning him from contacting Evan and Susan Giles was also imposed.
