MANCHESTER'S G-MEX Centre and the adjacent Manchester International Convention Centre are to re-brand and will be known as Manchester Central from January 1.
Manchester Central's Chief Executive, Lesley Tomlinson said: "This is an exciting time in the venue's history."
The building was originally Central Station, the main rail link into and out of the city between 1880 and 1969.
The area around Manchester Central will be known as Petersfield, originally named St. Peter's Field in the 19th century.
