A HOST of talented young musicians enthralled the audience at Bolton's Victoria Hall at the opening of an annual concert season.
The five-night annual celebration of instrumental and choral work by students at Bolton Music Centre was launched at the Victoria Hall last night.
From tonight the entertainment will move to the Albert Halls, where a different concert will be performed each evening until Thursday.
All five evenings, which start at 7pm, feature a variety of ensembles from junior to senior level musicians performing in a range of styles.
Last night the audience was in raptures as Bolton Junior Brass Band, Lads A Capella, Bolton Intermediate Concert Band, Bolton Youth Choir, Bolton Youth Harmonies and Bolton Youth Orchestra took to the stage.
There was also a performance from guest student soloist and guitarist James Swarbrick, aged 10.
Executive member for Children's Services, Cllr Linda Thomas, said: "Bolton Music Centre is one of the leading music services in the country and something we are extremely proud of.
"The annual Bolton Music Centre Presents is the highlight in the Music Centre's calendar. It's a perfect showcase for the borough's highly talented musicians and singers and a great opportunity for their families and friends to enjoy an evening of entertainment."
Tonight there will be music from Bolton Beginner and Junior Percussion Ensembles, Bolton Junior Training Strings, Bolton Intermediate Brass Band, Bolton Urban Music Project, Bolton Youth String Quartet and Bolton Youth Concert Band.
Tickets for each concert are £5 for adults and £3 for concessions. They are available from the Albert Halls box office on 01204 334400.
