Electric blanket causes bedroom fire

AN electric blanket caused a bedroom fire.
Firefighters were called to Yewdale Gardens in Breightmet at 10.20pm on Sunday.
A couple, both aged 62, were out of the property by the time the emergency crews arrived.
Crews from Bolton North and Bolton Central fire stations spent an hour on the scene tackling the fire and carrying out an home risk fire assessment.
Watch commander Barry Hornsby said: "The fire destroyed the bed and damaged the bedroom.
"The couple had smoke alarms fitted so they were alerted to the blaze early. They did everything right, from closing the bedroom door to leaving the property."
