SIX leading police officers have been given new roles in a major reshuffle at the top of Bolton police.

A number of time-served officers in the town have been awarded promotions, while others from outside of Bolton have been brought in.

Leading the pack are two new chief inspectors.

Former Detective Inspector Sara Wallwork has been promoted to Chief Inspector following her work at Bolton’s Public Protection Investigation unit.

Chief Insp Asrar Ul-Haq has been brought in from policing Manchester city centre following promotions for Bolton’s former Chief Inspectors Pete Matthews and Martin Greenhalgh.

In addition, Phil Spurgeon and Stuart Wrudd have been installed as the two new area inspectors for the town centre and Farnworth respectively.

Meanwhile, Insp Shane O’Neill has been promoted to take over Bolton’s Operational Policing Unit and Det Insp Paul Hitchen has been promoted to temporary Detective Chief Inspector.
