A man has been arrested following a serious assault in Bolton.

The victim, aged 26, was in the Spa Road area of Bolton when he was attacked.

He was found lying face down in a pool of blood with serious head injuries at around 2.45am on Saturday morning and was taken to Hope Hospital in Salford, but has since been discharged.

The man, who has not been named, was walking along an alleyway behind Spa Road at around 2.30am with two friends.
