A 20-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in a north Manchester street.
Shortly before 10pm on Sunday police were called to Attleboro Road, Moston, following a report the man had been stabbed.
The victim was approached by his attacker as he stood outside a house on Joan Street with a 37-year-old man.
The offender told the older men to turn some music down before producing a 12-inch knife and chasing the 20-year-old for a short distance.
The victim was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his left thigh and his torso. He is currently in a stable condition and his injuries are not life threatening.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack.
Detective Inspector Mark Hussey, of Grey Mare Lane CID, said: "This was clearly a frightening incident for the victim and it is fortunate he is not more seriously injured.
"I would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen what happened on Sunday night to call us if they saw anything.
"Also, I'd like to appeal to the person who is responsible, or anyone who knows who it is, to get in touch and explain what has happened."
Anyone with any information is asked to call Grey Mare Lane CID on 0161 856 3240 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
