A DOG lover, who has raised more than £20,000 for canine charities, is running a fundraising competition.
Amanda Wilkinson is bidding to increase her donations by giving away a “dog” hamper worth £70.
Packed full of treats for canines, proceeds will go to Tailwaggers Club Trust, which helps pet owners with vet’s bills. Mrs Wilkinson, who has two dogs and won the Warm Heart Award at the Cold Wet Nose Show in July, has raised more than £23,000 in the past three years.
The 26-year-old said: “Tailwaggers is a small charity that doesn’t get a lot of help but can make a big difference.”
The hamper was donated by Petmedics Veterinary Centre, the Worsley Canine Enthusiast Club. Anyone who wants to enter the competition needs to guess the price of the following vet bill.
A dog suffered a gastric torsion, with air getting trapped in its stomach because it ate too fast, the stomach then flipped and twisted so an emergency visit to the vets was made.
The pet had X-rays, an operation, painkillers and needed to stay at the vets for several days.
The competition costs £1 to enter. Answers, along with the name and address with a cheque payable to Tailwaggers Club Trust, should be sent to, 13 Brunswick Avenue, Horwich, BL6 6NJ, by Friday, September 5.
