DRUGS with an estimated street value of more than £ 1million have been recovered in Leigh.
Police swooped on a lock-up in Manchester Road at 7.25am on Wednesday.
Officers recovered: 7kg of uncut heroin, 25kg of a mixing agent, 11.5oz of prepared class A drugs — possibly heroin — and other drug paraphernalia.
A further 11.2oz of heroin was also recovered from a car.
A man, aged 46, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs in the Higher Fold area of Leigh. He was in police custody last night.
Det Sgt John Davies said: “A recovery of this size is a massive blow against the organised sale of class A drugs.
“This result demonstrates we are working tirelessly to disrupt the sale and supply of illegal drugs and bring those responsible to justice.”
