Health software firm buys out Australian company

HEALTHCARE software developer Ascribe is buying Australian company iClinix for an undisclosed sum.

It is the first acquisition for the formerly AIM-quoted Bolton-based company since it went private earlier this year in a £32.9m buyout backed by private equity firm ECI.

The company said the Sydney-based enterprise, which has five staff, would add £500,000 to its revenues this year.

The Australian company sells medical software for patient records and drugs to cancer and kidney disease specialists.

Ascribe already sells its clinical management and prescribing software in Australia.

Chief executive Stephen Critchlow said more acquisitions were planned as the company aims to grow last year’s £22m turnover by 10 per cent.

Mr Critchlow added: “With iClinix as part of the Ascribe group we will be able to make best use of our combined expertise in delivering electronic prescribing in Australia and New Zealand as well as developing and delivering our clinical software across the board.”
