Floral honour for the Mayor

Floral honour for the Mayor Floral honour for the Mayor

BOLTON Council park workers said it with flowers to honour the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Norman Critchley.

It has become a tradition in Bolton for the mayor to have his or her name spelled out in flower borders in Queens Park Bolton.

And this year’s mayor, along with mayoress Delyse Critchley, pictured left, were delighted with the results when they visited the sunken garden at the park recently.

“It is absolutely marvellous,” said Cllr Critchley.

“It is such an honour to see your name in flowers. It is really thrilling.”

Staff have been hard at work for four weeks putting in almost 23,000 bedding plants and succulents to spell out the mayor’s name in a colourful, green red, orange and gold display The plants, which include alternanthera, antennaria, echeveria, pyrethrum, sempervivum and curry plant, will continue to fill out throughout the summer to make an eye-catching display.
