Shoppers dig deep for hospital garden
CANCER patients will enjoy an improved outside space thanks to Rotarians and shoppers.
The Rotary Club of Bolton has given £500 to the Royal Bolton Hospital’s Churchill Unit, after its Christmas charity collections in December.
Volunteers shook donation buckets at Sainsbury’s, in Trinity Street, in the town centre, in December.
They raised £2,500 from customers, with £2,000 going to the Marie Curie Nurses Appeal and £500 handed over to the hospital.
The money will be spent on landscaping the garden at the unit.
Kathy Sandler, lead nurse for cancer services, said: “Having somewhere pleasant to sit or stroll in, or even just look at from the windows, will make a much better experience for patients having chemotherapy at the unit.
“We’re very grateful to the Rotary Club for their generosity.”
