A VICTIM of a burglary tracked down the culprit on his neighbour’s CCTV — and discovered it was a friend.
Christopher Ashworth, of Moffat Close, Breightmet, was horrified when he returned to his home to find intruders had stolen £1,685 worth of goods and cash.
He asked the owners of the Dragon View takeaway next door to check their cameras and the pictures caught Daniel Hunter and an unknown man red handed.
Yesterday, Bolton Crown Court heard that Mr Ashworth then called Hunter and said: “What have you done?
You don't rob your mates.”
Hunter, aged 27, of Slaidburn Close, Breightmet, apologised and promised to return the goods after the burglary on March 19.
Over the coming days, Hunter worked with police to get back the equipment, which included a Sony Playstation, two DVD players, a camera and a wallet containing credit cards.
Hunter pleaded guilty to one count of burglary and was yesterday ordered to do 100 hours of community service and to obey the conditions of a community supervision order for 12 months.
