A BOLTON online retailer has been named the second best company to work for in the North West, according to the Sunday Times newspaper.
DRL, which runs Appliances Online, has achieved the ranking in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For survey, which is based on staff opinions.
The company, based at Aspinall Close, Middlebrook, has 630 employees and is the UK’s largest online kitchen appliance retailer.
Its website sells fridges, freezers, ovens, hobs, washers and other equipment. The firm also has a £750,000 Bolton town centre video studio which employs 19 staff.
The studio makes presenter-led videos about products, which are then put on the website and has more than one million viewers a month.
The Sunday Times workplace survey was compiled from results given by employees to 70 questions.
These cover workplace culture, leadership, personal well-being; career development; pay and benefits; colleagues, managers and the company; and its relationship to the community and environment. Lancashire radio firm UKRD Group, which operates 107 The Bee and 2BR, came top in the North West for the second year running. Manchester tool firm Hilti came third.
The rankings are published in an 80- page supplement tomorrow.
Nobody from DRL was available for comment yesterday.
