Mountain rescuers come to aid of injured walker

BOLTON Mountain Rescue Team came to the aid of a man who fell while walking at Rivington Pike.

The 57-year-old man slipped yesterday (WEDS) near the Japanese lagoon, in the terraced gardens, during a walk with his wife.

North West Air Ambulance were called to the area and requested help from the mountain rescue team at 2.35pm. Ten volunteers found the man and carried him up rock steps on a stretcher to the hillside where the helicopter was waiting.

Paramedics suspected the man, who is believed to be from Bolton, had fractured his lower leg
