A YOUNG dancer has passed a tough audition to win a place at the prestigious English Youth Ballet.
Rebecca Cheadle, aged 16, of Manchester Road, Kearsley, will dance with the ballet in Giselle at the Charter Theatre, Preston, next month.
She is now rehearsing for six hours a day ahead of the performance, in which she takes a supporting role as a ghost.
Bolton sixth form student Rebecca, who trains at the Francis Bleasdale school of dance, beat more than 60 applicants for her role in Giselle.
Her stepfather, Vin Joseph, said: “The whole family is very proud of her achievements. This is the second time she’s been accepted and we look forward to watching her perform in March.”
Bridget Hearne, the general manager of the English Youth Ballet, said: “It’s a fantastic achievement. She did very well — she’s very competitive.”
Giselle runs on March 12 and 13. For tickets contact the box office on 01772 258858.
