TRADING Standards say they are looking into a TV and hi-fi business after customers said they are still waiting for goods.

The complaints have been made against Sound and Vision by customers who say they are waiting for thousands of pounds worth of electrical equipment.

A Bolton Council spokesman said: “Trading Standards are looking into the matter and would be concerned if a company was taking orders from customers they cannot fulfil.

“If customers have any worries about the orders they have placed already on the website, they should contact the company in writing if they cannot get through by phone.”

The firm’s website says the Farnworth shop is open and its online ordering service appears to be running.

Sound and Vision, which also has an office in Leeds, folded in 2010 before being bought and reopened by current owners Elitemark Ltd.

Customers are still waiting for goods and have been unable to contact the firm.

Roger Dobbing, aged 71, from Stafford, spent nearly £1,800 on a TV and other equipment, which he has not yet received.

He said: “I’ve been coming to Sound and Vision since 1999. I’d paid and was told I’d be contacted when it was available.

“When I found out about the Farnworth shop I came up here, but the shutters were down and I couldn’t contact anybody.”

Another customer, who did not want to be named, said: “I ordered a TV on February 2 and was told it would be in stock on February 13. I was asked to pay up front for it.

“When I later went to the shop, I found to my horror the shutters were down. I cannot get in touch with anyone.”

Sound and Vision director Neil Ball said: “We are working towards trying to find a solution to try to save the business and the jobs.

“We are acting in a responsible way, it wouldn’t have been responsible to carry on as we were.

“We could have carried on taking orders from people but we stopped it.”
