Fred Dibnah's Bolton statue is big business

FRED Dibnah's statue in Oxford Street has given a coffee shop a boost.
Since the monument to the famous steeplejack was erected earlier this month, Caffè Nero, on the corner of Deansgate and Oxford Street, has seen an increase in trade.
It has drawn many curious passers-by and Fred fans, who are taking the opportunity to enjoy a drink as they admire the sculpture.
Debz Neely, area manager of Caffè Nero, said: "It's amazing how many people come to see the statue. I was astounded by the number of people who attended the opening ceremony.
"We are delighted to have it, as it has given us the opportunity to deliver some excellent service to our customers. We have already been out giving samples of coffee to people looking at the statue."
But Ms Neely said she was relieved the statue was complete and that the site works had been removed.
She said: "The statue's construction coincided with some work by United Utilities, which wasn't good for business. I am delighted it is finished and is no longer a hole in the ground."
Eagle-eyes readers have spotted a mistake on one of the granite plaques on the statue. The wording reads that Fred had an honorary doctorate from the Robert Gorton university in Aberdeen. It should read the Robert Gordon university.
Mr Brian Tetlow, chairman of the Fred Dibnah Appeal Fund and from the Bolton Civic Trust, said: "We regret the mistake in the inscription. It seems an error occurred in the transmission of the details. A correction is of course being pursued."
