YOUNGSTERS held a street party fit for the Queen.
Year three students at Clevelands Preparatory School, Heaton, enjoyed a day of festivities before hearing tales from a visiting grandparent and enjoying a selection of traditional foods from the time of the Queen’s Coronation in 1953.
In keeping with the time, they created their own paper hats and re-enacted the coronation itself, as well as the celebrations that went on across the nation.
Class teacher Alison Hind said the annual party was “the crown jewel” in the school’s history syllabus.
She said: “To actually bring the events to life creates memories. I still have older students coming back to tell me how much they loved the street party.”
