BRIGHT young things at St Bede’s Academy are determined to get ahead.

So, while school is out for most children, the pupils at the Morris Green School went back to the classroom.

They enjoyed fun lessons to improve their literacy and numeracy skills.

June Roberts, deputy headteacher, said almost 30 soon-to-be year six pupils put their name down — about 50 per cent of the total year group.

Mrs Roberts said: “We have provided this service free of charge and offered a wrap around care with our holiday club.”
