TEENAGERS are helping bridge the generation gap with a series of tea parties.

Sixth formers at Bolton School girls’ division are hosting Tea at the Riley, free get-togethers at the new sixth form centre to which Bolton’s older generation are invited.

As well as chats over drinks and cakes, entertainment including live musical performances by pupils, bingo and other games are also being planned.

Sixth-former Ananya Baksi, aged 17, applied for additional funding for the scheme. She said: “We’ve applied for funding from vInspired’s Cashpoint, which offers a grant to young people who want to set up and run their own community project.

“We’ve submitted an application which is really like a business plan, showing the budgeting for all of the tea parties we want to run and how many young people will be involved.“ The Cashpoint grant will hopefully allow the girls to create something extra-special for their tea party guests in the months to come.

The first Tea at the Riley takes place on November 5, from 2pm to 3pm To reserve a place, ring 01204 840201 before October 24.
