YOUNGSTERS are going potty for all things Greek.

Children at The Oaks Primary in Sharples, have been creating their own Grecian pottery as part of their of Ancient Greece.

Year six pupils visited Sharples High School to draw their pottery design, before creating it in readiness for it to be set in the fired up kiln.

Molly Hadfield, aged 10, said: "The topic has been really interesting, learning about the past.

"I am really pleased with my pot which we give two hours to create and we will come back and decorate it."

Youngsters were given lesson by lead art teacher at the secondary school Kate Davidson who said: "The children have applied the techniques we have shown them and they have done really well."

As part of the five week project children have also been learning about the Gods and Greek mythology.

Year six teacher Tom Hampson said: "The children are always excited to come to Sharples School and to be able to use resources which are available here."
