PRIMARY school children from across Bolton enjoyed showcasing their vocal abilities at the second in a five-night series of concerts.

Youngsters from schools including Sharples Primary, SS Peter and Paul, Ladywood School and Blackrod Primary, took to the stage at Victoria Hall, Knowsley Street, on Tuesday night.

The annual festival, organised by Bolton's Schools Music Association, gives about 400 children the chance to perform each evening.

Trish Hughes, the association's chairman, said: "It was excellent again, another successful evening.

"This time, it was led by Robbie Gardiner who was conducting his first concert for us.

"The children performed magnificently and were a credit to both their schools and their parents."

Thursday night's concert will feature The Oaks Primary School, St Peter's Smithills Dean, Lord Street Primary, Chorley New Road Primary, Our Lady of Lourdes, High Lawn Primary, Bishop Bridgeman, the Forwards Centre, St Bede CE Primary, St Catherine's in Horwich and Devonshire Road County Primary School.

The schools taking part in Friday evening's final concert will be St Stephen and All Martyrs', St Teresa's, Washacre, Clevelands Preparatory School, St Peter's in Farnworth, St Thomas of Canterbury, Church Road, Red Lane, St Catherine's CE Primary, St Mary's in Horwich and Egerton Primary.
