WITH ghosts, witches and ghouls, Shakespeare's tales are perfect for a spooky Halloween retelling.
And that is exactly what one school in Bolton has done, encouraging its pupils to learn about one of the Bard's greatest plays — Macbeth — in time for October 31.
The three witches from the play were spotted in Harwood in time for Halloween — together with many other creatures including a skeleton, to the grim reaper and even a jester.
They all gathered at Harwood Meadows Primary School to mark Halloween and help children explore the characters which come out to play at this time of year in art and culture.
Headteacher Siobain Barnes said: “The children know all about Halloween and the children have been studying witches, goblins in art and culture and deepen their understanding of the arts.”
“They really enjoyed it. They have been writing poems in the style of Shakespeare.
“Activities like this are part of children’s enrichment, when they go to study Macbeth at secondary school, they will have an understanding of it and it is so important that we open up these experiences for children.”
