TO parents the winner of the Primary School of the Year Award St Peter and St Paul's RC Primary School goes "above and beyond".

The school just on the outskirts of the town centre and is a good school, by Ofsted's tough standards.

The education watchdog found at its last inspection: "Teachers have high expectations of the quality and quantity of pupils’ work and pupils respond well to these

expectations."

The report added: "There is a harmonious atmosphere in classes and pupils treat each other kindly and show respect to their teachers."

The award, which is sponsored by Surveyroof, recognises all the good work the school does to help young people achieve academic success while aiding their personal development.

Headteacher, Trish Grogan said: "I would like to say how delighted we are as a school to be awarded the best primary school in Bolton.

"It is an absolute honour to be the headteacher of St Peter and Paul's because the children are just amazing.

"We have fabulous parents who are truly supportive of everything we do in school.

"The staff and governors go above and beyond on a daily basis to ensure that children have the most stunning environment to learn in and the very best teaching is provided in every classroom.

"All staff from our wonderful cleaners, lunchtime supervisors, cooks, site manager and office staff care about creating the oasis of learning and fun that is St Peter and Paul's."

She added: "This award recognises all the hard work of staff at the school, and wonderful place it is to be.

"I am just so proud of everyone."

Rita Hughes, who nominated the school, said: "My daughter has just left for secondary school and was so upset at leaving this school behind.

"I cannot praise staff enough for the love and support they provide."
