TWO Assistant Chief Constables have been appointed to Greater Manchester Police to complete its team of chief officers.

Debbie Ford and Rob Potts were appointed by Chief Constable Ian Hopkins after a two-day interview process that involved community and local authority representation.

Mr Hopkins said: "We had five high calibre candidates in the process, which shows Greater Manchester is an attractive place to work

"They both have a huge amount of experience that will be invaluable to ensuring we can provide the best possible service to communities."

Ms Ford is currently Temporary Assistant Chief Constable at Northumbria Police where she is responsible for crime and operations. 

She has 22 years service and has been in control of public protection, serious and organised crime, intelligence, homicide and major enquiries at the force.

Mr Potts has been Temporary Assistant Chief Constable at GMP since June 2015 and oversees public protection and the operational communications Branch.

Born and bred in the region, he joined GMP in 1992 working in South Manchester and ended up leading at various times Stockport, Salford, Oldham, Tameside and Rochdale divisions and has also worked in crime operations and specialist operations.
