YOUNGSTERS have been learning how emergency services help keep them safe.

Nursery children at Bolton School were treated to a visit by firefighters as they found out about the important work police, fire and ambulance do in the region.

A spokesman for Bolton School said: “Older children enjoyed talks from the ambulance service, which involved looking at the different vehicles they drive and when they might be needed, and the police service, who advised them on never going off with strangers and to always stay with whoever you went out with.

“They reassured the children that their job is all about keeping people safe.”

He added: “The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service impressed by bringing in their fire engine which children from all age groups were allowed to sit in and investigate.

“ Some lucky older children even got to hold the hose and fire water across the car park.”
